Comment:
I was thinking about posting this mix anyway, but when I saw the Keymaster of Gozer's mix highlighting the first half of the Boingos' career, I felt like it was meant to be. I know a lot of Boingo fans aren't really fans of the guys' later stuff; so I hope I haven't offended the sensibilities of any fellow Boingoloids.Feedback:
How the hell did this get submitted four times? Sorry about that...
wait. it was only submitted once. i am dumb. (oh, by the way, this was probably obvious, but for clarity's sake, the titles in the "Artist" column are of the Boingo album from which the track was taken.)
On the other hand, I only like their last album -- love it, actually -- and can't get into their earlier stuff.
"Helpless"!!! I love that song! Should have been on the CD version. I often like to picture Jack Skellington singing that one. It's quite funny that way. This is a very interesting collection. I can't fully comment because I don't own Farewell or Alive. I have heard both, though. I've heard some people even say they prefer the "Alive" versions, but that seems like blasphemy to me. I think the songs are too fast and Danny's voice sounds thrashed...you can tell they rehearsed that album for weeks. And "Goodbye Goodbye" is a half step lower on "Alive," which really bugs someone like me with perfect pitch. Anyway, I would have included more songs from "Dark," personally, but that's just me. I really like "When The Lights Go Out," and "Flesh And Blood," for instance. Oingo Boingo's post "hyphen album" stuff doesn't really do much for me. "Dark" sounds a little staid to me, and "Boingo" sounds a bit too much like modern alternative of the time...though both albums have their moments, of course. And I would like to know what the "4-minute edit" of "Change" is. Did you do that yourself? I'd love to hear it.
