BEAT GIRLS: Don't Be Mean
Comment:
Taking a break from their busy schedule of finding better and moreobscure recordings to mash up (DJ Karen), lip-synching to
classic show tunes (Jenergy), and breaking hearts at the mental (ZoT), Les Beat
Girls have found time to assemble a collection of beats, melodies,
lyrics, and harmonies to delight and amaze all listeners. From a
double blast of that most-covered of multicolored treacle, through
Soviet Love Songs, multi-tracked a capella sound melanges, and instant re-mixes, to the ever-effervescent Francis Gumm, the Girls show
no mercy, whipping the hapless listener from genre to genre, with
barely a few moments of layered sound clips between to allow a few
moments respite.
We're Les Beat Girls. We don't care if you're fireproof or not!
This mix is different than the previously leaked version!
Feedback:
Okay, my day is made, with a new Beat Girls mix. Thanks, Ladies.
Stop, drop, and roll! Like the look of #2, 5, and especially 13-14. Looks great, girls...
I'm suiting up in asbestos for this one, ladies! Bring it on!
oooh, this looks like terrific fun (except for the PATD, whom i loathe like i loathe very few bands) - some great stuff here
cool, really lika the passage 4-7
Not sure who picked what, but I reckon Jen is responsible for tk 14. And the team are responsible for a CORKER of a mix..
I drool when I spot a mix like this. Enough favorite songs I know sprinkled about - Alanis, Nick Cave, The Raincoats, Sparks, Dresden Dolls (one of their top tracks) - to keep me listening to those I don't know. Oh, wait, there's no link. Darn!
Bring it on & burn it down!
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true

I had a different take than Sammy, I picked Jen on track 10. Either one of us is wrong, or else the pattern did not go 1-2-3 and it was just complete anarchy at the Beat Girl Lair.
Love the Raincoats, Liliput, Sparks, Soft Boys and Nick Cave tracks.
Nice. I especially like the Raincoats and Dresden Dolls picks.
Sammy & Mixxer, You should know that Beat Girls don't follow the rules - we are melodic, exotic, erotic anarchy.
That said, you're both right, I'm 10 AND 14 (and a floor wax, and a whipped topping). But can you figure out our order in cover picture. As always, it was a total delight mixing up a storm with Zoe and Karen.

Sigh, The Beat Girls....
Got a thing about girls in pleated skirts...anyway I think that Raincoats/Liliput pairing is perfect. And kudos for including Sparks and the Residents. Excellent stuff.
From left to right I'd go - Jenny, Karen, Zoe......
Lovin' 2-5, 7, 13, and 17 and knowing that the three of you are still crankin' it up.
This is a wonderful listen, thanks again for the divshare file. The Devil's Ball is my highlight, and thanks for the education.
lots of weird goodness on this one. loved the Nick Cave, Judy Nylon tracks, Aleksandr Dolskii, Scala & Kolacny Bros. and JudyCast. the opening was lovely and haunting and a few other things, and my favorite track of all was "Don't Be Mean," so glad you mined it for the title.
He he...back once again with the ill behaviour. Here Kitty, Kitty indeed.
Working with Jenergy and Sister Z is always a ball! Can a skirt be so short that you can see what they had for breakfast?
