Comment:

An Aussie/Kiwi-inspired mix, made for AOTMr Jim Neill. I say inspired because 2 songs on here aren't sung by Aussies/Kiwis, but are included because, in the case of the first song (Hammer Song), an Australian artist later covered it - any guesses who? And there's a song on side 2 that's a cover of a song by an Aussie artist. Tape title comes from a line in the Mick Thomas song. Special thanks to my very good friend Nada, for introducing me to many of these artists - a big reason why we're friends in the first place - Here's how our 1st conversation went, in 1995 - Nada: I'm coming to America soon for a visit, possibly Boston (where I lived). Me: So, what music do you like? Sorry, Nada, that I don't share your love of Vegemite...

The Sensational Alex HArvey Band tune was covered by good ole' Nick Cave. It seems the Sensational Alex HArvey Band is quite popular as a cover choice for those Aussie's as The Church covered "Faithealer" and I have a live tape of this from down under called The Flaming Barstools and they cover an Alex HArvey Tune too.

Not too familiar with lots of these artists (yet) but I just picked up Nick Cave's new album. Frickin' brilliant. Also adore "Able Hands" by Sodastream. Muy bien. Me gusto.

Good on ya, Casetta! The Alex Harvey song comes from "Original Seeds - Songs that Inspired Nick Cave," which is an excellent cd to add to your collection if you're a Nick Cave fan.

I like the mix, especially the Mark Seymour addition, also the Lucksmiths are very upbeat.
