Comment:

before anything else, i want to thank everyone from the pit of my heart who replied with their support on my last mix; i appreciate it more than i can even begin to verbalize.

i feel a little melodramatic & a bit embarrassed about the cryptic explanation (or lack thereof) on the aforementioned posted mix; kind of like the explosive drunk man at a party who storms out after making a total emotional fool of himself. it's in my own self-defense that i feel i was at least partly within reason given what has been the condition of my life recently, & i'd like to shed some light on that right now. over the course of one week, i broke up with my girlfriend, lost my job, had to give up my car & permanently severed ties with someone who's been close to my heart for a very long time. i'm slowly picking up the pieces, but the aftermath may prove to be even more difficult to get through than the demise itself. i want to extoll my deepest, most sincere gratitude to everyone here's support: you guys really are the best.

as for the mix itself, i threw this together over the course of a painstaking day filled with plenty of wallowing, self-pity & sulking. what else is a broken-hearted music geek to do when he's unemployed & freshly single? well, that & bum around at the record store for far longer than is accepted or normal (both of which have been all-too-common lately). the title is from the pernice brothers track.

Awww, man, you're making me weep. And trust me, I *know* how you feel, having gone through (and still going through) basically the same thing. Ya ever need to chat, send me an email.

Oh, and nice mix. Naturally.

could be worse. you could have got a country mix out of it. soon it will be time for a high energy rock and roll blowout mix.

Yeah, I was devastated after the break up of a long term relationship back in '01. I just did what a bloke's gotta do, drank lots of beer had lots of promiscous sex. Few years later met someone else, now I've got the most beautiful daughter. And I don't give the ex a second thought.
And the mix? Lovely..

Self-pity and sulking is one of the cornerstones in civilization. Great mix, especially like 3 & 15, and Nick Cave is always brilliant. And remember, you have to reach rock bottom before you can climb up to the top!

Hey, we are here for each other at the Church of AOTM, count on us.

Regarding the mix, , the Buddy Holly and Tom Waits are all I need to see to label it perfect.

Mag Fields, RHead, Waits, and Cave? Please, keep me away from the sharp objects...

Life will go on, though, and you'll find somebody better. God knows anyone with this taste in tunes deserves it.

The 15 - 17 run is stunning. Great Mag Fields, Cave and Pernice picks too. BTW, that's what record stores are for.

This is fabulous, Anthony...my favorite parts being 7-9 and the closer, and one of my very favorite Waits tracks too. Your notes suggest maybe you've begun your first steps down the road of coping - hope that's the case.

Anthony, must say I have just (for about two weeks) climbed out of the worst three months (maybe) of my life. Every time the telephone rang, it was another level of misery. Killah mix, though! Can't wait to hear it.

Another super mix, Anthony. It sounds like you are working through all of this in the best way possible... funny how favorite record stores feel like home, isn't it? Keep up the mixing, and hang in there! I had a similarly crappy week 20 years ago... but it led to all the good things I am grateful for today.

I hope you're on the up-slope now; we like you bunches 'round here, after all. It has to be said, though, that you've worked your pain into awesome work lately: this is an excellent mix, as was the last one. That being said, feel better soon. My comment should in no way be seen as encouragement to stay sad! :-)<3 Sara

Sorry for the torment you're going through. Music and record shops have a way of deflecting a bit of the pain. And I agree with Mahdishain, we appreciate that your choices weren't outta the country record bin...Hang in my friend...

Jeebus, Anthony! I feel for ya, my friend. Several of these tracks were in HEAVY rotation for me over the last year and a half of coping with a lot of similar, stressful shit. That Posies track and the DBT song STILL just kill me every time I hear 'em. Hang in there, man.

Many musicians create their best work in periods of sadness. I'd say the same goes for mixers and mixes.

wow. i'm excited about this, assuming this is what you're sending (whenever you get to it, kay?)... i love what i know and i don't know nearly all of it: the perfect thing for a mix trade. as for what i do know, i love love love love love the stretch from 2-6, the she & him track, the neko track, and waits o' course. lovely. i hope you're feeling better -- i'm working on your mix right now and maybe just maybe it can help a little.

No need to defend yourself considering what's happened. Another good mix, shame it had to come out of personal misery. Wishing you the best.

As my pal Howard J. once said -- "Things can only get better." At least your self-pity resulted in one fantastic mix. Hopefully future ones will be more optimistic :) You'll always have your friends here at AOTM, as long as the site doesn't crash and burn.
