Comment:

This retrospective, of course, follows the events of the film. Here are comments about each song on how it relates to the film:

1. Jack Torrence travels to the Overlook Hotel to apply for a job.

2. Back home, his son Danny goes into some sort of seizure, and the doctor is called.

3. It is revealed that Danny has an imaginary friend, Tony, living inside his mouth.

4. The song goes, "Danny says we gotta go, gotta go to Idaho..." (Okay, so they don't go to Idaho.) But, as Jack is offered the job hundreds of miles away, Danny (through his friend Tony) already knows Jack has the job, and that they will be leaving soon.

5. The Torrences arrive at the Overlook Hotel on closing day.

6. Danny learns from Mr. Halloran, the hotel cook, that the gift he has is called "shining".

7. The first big storm comes, and the Torrences can no longer drive into town. They're now totally isolated at the Overlook.

8. Just 35 minutes into the film, Jack starts to lose it.

9. The bloody twin sisters in the elevator ask Danny to "come out and play".

10. Jack meets Lloyd the bartender.

11. REDRUM! REDRUM!

12. Wendy, of course, is Jack's wife. Jack chases Wendy up the stairs with an axe. Wendy hides in the bathroom, which leads to...

13. HEEEERRRRE'S JOHNNY!! (Go! Johnny! Go!)

14. Danny and Wendy "run like hell"!!

15. Jack chases Danny around the hedge maze.

16. Hmmmm...it's getting cold, but Jack is tired from chasing Danny, so he decides to sit down and take a break. (Bad move.)

17. Jack's fate.

18. A nice slow one to wrap things up. ROLL CREDITS.
