Elemental
Comment:
The element of surprise is so important when putting together a continuous mix. You can plan all you want regarding which tracks fit where and how it starts and ends, but in the final mix, so to speak, there is always a track or two that sneaks in the back door and takes up residence. Here we have two takes on the same Quant track, which I decided on the spur of the moment to blend together. The Amp Fiddler track found its way into the mix when I heard his guest shot on John Arnold's "Get Yourself Together" and went searching for one of his own pieces.
Antoine de St. Exupery thought it was natural law that provoked humans to refine a piece until "gradually it partakes of the elemental purity of human expression." I can't say whether or not the refinements made this mix pure or not, but in the words of De La Soul, "It's all good."
Quiz: To win a copy of this mix with track markers and artwork, answer this one. Which artist on the mix was at one time part of George Clinton's Parliament/Funkadelic unit?

Feedback:
