On my girlfriend's actual birthday, I was broke. So about three weeks later, when I had a few bucks, I surprised her with this mix and concert tickets and some other stuff and called it her "Second Birthday."

Some well worn faves here, but I can relate our relationship to all of them just like everyone else, which is why I suppose they are so often used.

three of these actually rank in my top 10 all-time favorite songs list, oddly enough (2, 12 & 14) - love the 2-5 stretch, & of course the aforementioned beach boys & nick drake, & the iron & wine & elliott smith - looks vey sweet

i also appreciate 2 and 14 although probably not top ten. The Plant/Krauss collaboration is something special.

You might want to give her a half birthday mix 6 months later, too. Hope it was a happy birthday for both of you!
