Comment:

my father died on december 13, 2006. this one's been brewing in my head for a while, obviously. these are all songs about fathers, or songs that make me think of my father, who was a really great man and who i miss a lot these days, when my bike is broken and my car needs some work and i'm going home for a couple of weeks this summer to a house that he no longer lives in. he wasn't perfect. "styrofoam plates" hits a little close to home, in reality. but i couldn't bring myself to end this on a sad note which is why "spectacular views" is the last track. i listen to songs like "big trucks" and "motor away" and smile, glad his pain is finally gone and sad at the same time that he's never going to hug me again.
title is from the pavement song.

Good for you to commemorate your dad in such a personal way. I really love how you ended it with the rilo kiley track. well done

this is heartachingly poignant. very sorry to hear about your loss, but you've created quite a beautiful mix out of your hardship. 1-3, 9, 12-14, 17, 20-21 hit me the hardest.

I'm always impressed when people manage to create something from the pain of losing someone. When I lost my grandmother, I just got numb. Good on you, it looks beautiful.

Sincere sympathy on the loss of your father. Time and music help. But life is forever changed after the death of a parent. Take it easy on yourself.
