Comment:

I've been doing a lot of commuting to my new job lately, and
consequently I get to listen to lots of music on my way to work. I
started making a mix to walk to, and discovered that many of the songs
about walking happen to have excellent walking beats. So I
put them all together, tried to match up cadences whenever possible,
and ended up with this. I've already commuted to this one a couple of
times and it fits the bill perfectly.

are you even capable of making a less-than-stellar mix? the elvis costello, cure, REM, nancy sinatra, jonathan richman, johnny cash & patsy cline are all hard-hitters for me. you hit this one out of the park.

by the way, i got your package late last week, & the mix was just as beautiful as i hoped - & more - thanks a ton!

This looks so good, I feel I need to test it immediately. But where to walk? Around the neighbourhood I guess.

my god, if you try walking to the beat of that Katrina & the Waves song, you're going to end up losing 35 pounds! several favorites from the '80s here (including that K/Waves number) and also really liked the Ebonettes, Mancini and reallyreally liked the Hugo Montenegro song! "Walking the Cow" was just plain odd. overall, a very enjoyable selection of tunes that we all had fun strolling through here at work today.

Great stuff. I'm particularly partial to the REM, YLT, YFF (great band, great song), Cure, Lou & Elvis, but any nod to Katrina is great to see. And I love that Katy McCarty album, though I'm partial to the Reivers' "Cow" cover myself.

Not a favourite mix in LA I imagine but wonderful for roaming the streets of London as I often do in search of thrift shops.

Excellent, and thanks for the link. Given the price of fuel, I'll be getting a lot of use out of this. My only addition would be Rufus Thomas's 60s hit, "Walkin The Dog." And maybe the Dire Straits' "Walk of Life," or is that one too cliche?

I've used Walkin the Dog too many times already on previous mixes... I considered Walk of Life, but the rhythm just didn't sync with the other tracks that well.

Cute and super-cool, as per usual with the bug gal. I especially love 1-3, 5, 13, 15, 19, 21, and 23-25.

Walking beats sweltering on the central line. Nice job, nice mix.
