Last week we watched a documentary on Stax,reminded us what a tragedy his death was and also seeing him sing Respect gave the song a new power after hearing Aretha's version so often.

When I was 13/14 my History teacher would occasionally ramble about Otis Redding and how he was the greatest vocalist of the 20st century... no matter we were debating the French Revolution or the Crusades... that said, I hold nothing against him for that!

Otis = immense. These Arms is one of my favourite songs of all time and I love his version of That's How Strong too. Actually I love all of this...

I've said it once, and I'll say it again. great stuff, Karen - my favorites remain "Hard to Handle" and "Love Man." but that tune with Carla Thomas is pretty great too.
