Single Artist
If It Was Warm She Wouldn't Wear It Much More
Comment:
Here's a single artist mix I never wanted to do. How do I narrow down decades of work that has influenced musicians, deejays and pop culture alike? I mean, the man did write "Manic Monday" for the Bangles. Well, this mix has been in the making for years. There has been a CD box set and a Greatest Hits disc but I always enjoyed the deep album cuts and the live [unauthorised] releases.
I remember years ago I put together a cassette entitled "B-sides and Bootlegs". I distributed it to all my deejay pals and most of them played tracks in da clubs they worked at. What an honour it was! My favourite Prince songs are usually based on how I feel at the time. So, at the time I compiled, these were my most loved tracks.
Feedback:
The man has quite a body of work, to say the least. There's one bootleg in particular, titled "Small Club" that is essential for any fan.
Bless my soul, it is DJ Karen, a true sight for sore eyes!Welcome back home, I haven't heard that Zep cover, thanks for the head's up.
Welcome back, DJ Karen! Can't say I know anything here apart from Diamonds & Pearls and a couple of the covers, but I always thought the little guy was quite prolific.
Tonight we're gonna party like it's 2008.
Good things in small packages, indeed. I saw Prince perform 7 years ago, he perched atop his high-heeled boots strutting, swooning and playing blistering guitar. Great showman and a nice tribute mix, Karen.
Yay for Karen! Yay for my hometown boyo as well!
oh Karen, how good it is to see your name up here again. (all the critics love u in New York.) another typically hot Karen set, and of course we can't forget what the guy did for Sheena Easton (though many have tried.) happy thanksgiving!
He isn't always my swig of beer but I can't deny his talent and Kiss is an amazing song (though not amazing enough to make this mix but then I trust you are better at sorting out his stuff than I am).
Great to see "Ballad of Dorothy Parker" as track 1, this is my favorite Prince song. "Yeah, let me get a fruit cocktail...." I need to hear those Zep and Beatles covers.
