Alles Made In Germany
Comment:
To be honest, I made this Mix out of a whim. When I was looking through my music I found some tunes from the sixties and seventies produced and recorded in germany by german artists (at least most of them were german). All of them are great pieces: a bit jazzy, a bit funky, with soul and with great musicians giving there best at their instruments. Interesting is the fact that many recordings use big bands (wich results in some tunes sounding like easy listening) , obviously there was enough money around to pay so many excellent musicians and bandleaders. So join me on a tour through the late sixties and early seventies in german music business (I skipped the so called german "schlager" and folkmusic though). We start of with a 56seconds short definition for soul that sets the mood and the sound for the following 68minutes of music.
Here are some interesting facts for some of the tracks:
5) Ever wondered how many versions of the famous "Mas Que Nada" do exist? Well, let me introduce you to another one. This one here is the german version, sung by Mary Roos a famous german vocalist.
6) What do a man and a woman think when they see a bodybuilder? This track reveals it in a quite groovy and funny way.
11) This Sitar-monster almost got lost. It was recorded in 1969 for a album that never saw the light of day. Thanks to the guys from Marina Records who dug this treasure up!
21) Anyone remembers this tune? This great piece of music is actually a note-for-note copy but it's better than the original. So here's a little trivia: What's the name of the original song and who wrote it?
24) I couldn't think of a better track to finish this mix than this track. It was actually the final tune for a famous TV-show in germany.
I hope you enjoyed the trip and liked some of the tunes.
PS: Sorry for not having an artwork but I really do suck at doing such stuff.
PPS: The rapidsharelink contains, of course, the complete mix.

Never expected so much soul in a Germanic way. Fine mix.
