Comment:
Made for fellow AOTMr Bill Harris. He wanted to hear some Art of Fighting, whose cd I had recently gotten for my b-day, as well as a few other aussie artist, such as the Lucksmiths. Art of Fighting reminds me (and others) of Red House Painters (and Low), so I had to put some RHP/M. Kozelek on there, as well as Idaho, who remind me a lot of RHP. So side 1 is full of twee and sad, but not sappy, songs. Side 2 starts out with sort of a block set - track 1 is a cover of the other "man in black", Nick Cave; the vocalist of track 2 has played with the orig. man in black; track 3 is the original of a song covered by Nick Cave; track 4 is a cohort of Nick Cave; and track 5 is just an aussie lots of musicians know and probably who knows Nick Cave. Title comes from B&S track.Feedback:
Any mix with "Falling Aeroplanes" on it has to be a good thing, I say. Just puzzled by the Tex Perkins song, though; surely that's not him covering an old Status Quo song, is it?
Featuring Steve Kilbey! Is this something that is readily available? How big is his contribution?
Heh heh -- you saw that, too, eh? Methinks Mr. Kilbey has his fingers in all the pots...;)
Steve Kilbey sings on the track - I don't know a lot about Stephen Cummings - a friend just gave me the cd only a week ago, but I know that he (Steve K.) performed with S. Cummings
