Comment:

This is mainly my tribute to Ellen who introduced me to a lot of great songs. We end up online late at night and we'll just say: Download this. She's pointed out a lot of good music recently. I never really listened to much emo/punk until Ellen came along. So this is my beginners' mix. I suppose there's been a bit of confusion so I'm retitling my mix. "Punk For Beginners" was almost a joke. This is music that I lot of people would consider punk or emo. And I know that it's really doesn't fit the definition of true punk. It's like wannabe punk. People listen to this and claim to listen to punk music. So, whatever. Don't take things like this so seriously.

In order to hear true punk music, please download the following songs: "Blitzkreig Bop" - Ramones, "Anarchy In The U.K.
- Sex Pistols, "Search & Destroy" - The Stooges, and last but not least "Kill The Poor" by Dead Kennedys. Thank you and goodnight.

These bands have about as much to do with Punk as The Stray Cats had to do with Rockabilly.

Perhaps, the mixer was being IRONIC by making a statement that this her impression of punk as a beginner. I would be more upset if she put it in the punk catagory.

That's exactly the point. It's not punk. It's beginners punk. The type of stuff that people listen to claiming that they listen to punk music. It's pop punk. I mean, MxPx? Come on, I'm not that stupid. Just to clear things up the title WAS supposed to be ironic.

Ya know punk music isn't even that good so I don't see the big deal in being anal about what is and what isn't punk. Catorgizing punk isn't punk so there ya go.

So I was right!!! Good job Dayna, don't let the elitist get you down, afterall, they think punk is a hairstyle and a wardrobe and not an attitude se there!!! A real punk thing to do would be to say this mix was punk.
