champaign, illinois' braid is and always will be one of the best bands i've ever been given the opportunity to hear. they were one of my indie rock gateway drugs of sorts, and even though ive had "frame and canvas" for something like 3 years now i still listen to it several times a week. few bands combined musicial precision, lyrical wit and aptitude, and pure simultaneous joy and heartbreak the way that bob, chris, todd and damon did. this compilation is the one i've made several copies of to introduce braid to friends of mine... i think of these as the definitive broach/nanna compositions. rock.
