Comment:

I lived in Dallas, TX during the early '90s, and was fortunate enough to witness the amazing music scene that developed around the city during that time.

In addition to all the acts contained on this mix tape, this scene spawned bands like the Toadies, Edie Brickell & the New Bohemians, David Garza, MC 900 Ft Jesus, the Nixons, Deep Blue Something, Bo Bud Green, and Alejandro Escovedo. I can't recommend this tape highly enough. It's full of should-have-beens and could-have-beens, and it's a good overview of the Texas music scene of the early '90s.

The music covers the rock spectrum, from rockabilly to techno to folk to pop to grunge to punk. Most of these songs are long-out-of-print now, and many were hard to find even if you lived in Texas when they were released.

Pop Poppins ruled, but Meredith Miller's "I'm Alive" frankly was superior.

A lot of this stuff is on the "Tales from the Edge" CDs. Gotta dig those out...

Awesome Mix!
