Comment:

I love live/acoustic versions of songs. They either show the hidden beauty of a cheesy song (go Nik Kershaw!) or coincidentally have a better sound (Sunny Day Real Estate's 'In Circles' sounds so rich and dreamy) or just sound so intimate and gorgeous (Dido doing 'Here With Me' sitting on her stool on Top of the Pops). Of Course, the greatest acoustic song ever is Dave Grohl doing Everlong on KROQ. How much do I want to be Dave Grohl? A lot. I've tried to provide info on *which* recording I like, but most of the time it's an anonymous mp3. Which sucks.

Nice mix. I actually heard that version of Everlong on the radio and got it taped just in time. Those were the days...making mixes from static radio songs. Anyways, I was curious about the Oasis track. I thought there was only one live acoustic version of Slide Away out there that was taped at a concert in Chicago?

Cheers buddy boy. The mp3 I have has Noel saying how it's Oasis and the best syndicated gig, or something? Anyway. It's a really fine recording.

Is that the version of Everlong from the Howard Stern show? That one's pretty good. In fact, Howard said he got the chills.

No, I have the Stern session but it's from an AM broadcast and generally not as good. The KROQ mp3 is the 256kps one that's floating around, and crystal clear.

A common misconception, held my everyone who's downloaded an mp3 tagged by a FOOL! If you listen right to the end, the DJ says '... with Posies' John so and so on drums ...'. I have also seen the same recording named as with Portishead (of course, there is a Portishead remix as well which confused people). Anyway, class song, no matter.
