Although I've barely listened to music since Tuesday morning (9/11), these are songs that I have heard, if not on the radio then in my head. I was originally inspired to put the songs on this CD that speak of time and how we use it on a mix tape I made a few years ago after seeing David Lynch's The Straight Story, which is my alltime favorite movie. The other songs (the U2 tracks, Weezer, GBV, Bowie, Otis) are more directly related to the very sad events of this week. I would have preferred Bowie's English-language version of "Heroes" but I don't have it. If I ever do get it, I may revise this disk. The CD is opened by a piece from the score from The Straight Story, since that movie has been so inspirational to me. Ray Charles wraps it up with his stunning version of "America the Beautiful." I wanted this CD to express both the sadness of this week and the hope that we can all make the best use of our time to create a better future for our children.Feedback:
Great tribute (and the sentiment is RIGHT ON). This is something, that will take a lot of time to fully move on from. There are times when the price of FREEDOM is much PAIN. Others want to make us pay for the lifestyle we lead in America. In securing a better future for our children, we will need to "communicate" back to those responsible in a way that they also never forget (and we'll see if they recover as will the U.S.A.). I LOVE that Ray Charles song and the feeling it evokes...GREAT MIX !
