Comment:

Tape for Jenneane, my ex co-worker. She's really into goth/darkwave, so I tried to make her a dark-ish sounding tape, although only a few of these bands would be considered "goth" per se. If some of the bands on here aren't dark usually, like Belle and Sebastian, I included a dark-ish song by them. She's also a Billy Bragg fan, and as we are both going to see him in Perth this Tuesday, I included him as well. Title courtesy of Throwing Muses.

Intriquing mix collective. Before I read your comments, I sensed a darkened theme swirling throughout the track listing. Nice effort !

Swoon - the 6ths are Stephin Merrit's (Magnetic Fields) off-shoot band - he gets guest vocalists to sing his songs - if you like the mag. fields, I recommend the 6ths.

Rosie, I'm sorry to say - Billy was awesome! You really must see him the next time he comes to aus. And the same to the rest of you - if he tours near you - go and see him - he may not have as much fire in his belly, but it's still smoldering.

Hey SueEW, noticed you had some talk talk on a tape. I've heard OF them, but never heard them. What album would you reccomend I start with?

Very nice mix. I have to ask: is that the Tom Jones of "Delilah" fame?

Cerdovolante - yes it is - I put Tom on here because the person I made this tape for is a fan of Nick Cave & this song came from the disc "original seeds - songs that inspired Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds". Nick also did a cover of the song called "sleeping annaleah" (don't know why he changed the title).

LL - as for Talk Talk, personally I would start with "spirit of eden" - it's got "i believe in you" among other greats, on it.

I have wondered for awhile when someone was going to cover Lee Hazelwood and Nancy Sinatra's classic "Some Velvet Morning"... I'll look for this one to download somewhere. I hope it's a good cover... :()
