Comment:

This is one of the tapes that the world famous (in Perth!) Kim Williams made for me a few months back. He looked at my music collection and said he'd introduce me to some aussie artists that were popular in the 60s as well as scott walker & some other 60s stuff that I wasn't too familiar with (like the left banke). I tried to get him to post his mixes to this site, but he refused, and pretty much asked me to do it, so here it is. Here are his comments on the mix: "on the aussie side there are quite a few connections. the gibb bros wrote exit stage right and craise finton kirk. johnny young turned into a song writer and wrote the real thing for russell morris and a big hit for ronnie burns called smiley. ronnie burns does lifestyle tv now. the valentines were an early bon scott band pre-ac/dc. the formyula were actually from new zealand but hey...and the tyrnaround were an '80s band but hey (again) they have the most authentic retro sound i've ever heard so..."
Please give Kim some feedback so I can convince him to post all of his mixes on here...[Addendum: Kim used to front the Summer Suns - one of the best power pop bands around, so if you ever see anything by them, be sure to buy it! or not. whatever.]

I can't say that I've heard of any of these Aussie bands, but if Sue likes it, it must be great.

Do you ever get the idea that there is a lot of lying going on on this site?

No, Gary, actually I don't. Anyway, get this - in the newspaper today, one of the songs on here, "Nature" by Fourmyula, was voted the #1 song over the past 75 years by the Kiwis. Other interesting picks: #2: "Don't Dream It's Over" by Crowded House and #9 was a song by the Straitjacket Fits.
