Comment:

ok, so obviously the theme is the days of the week. i've wanted to do this for a long time, but it was harder than i expected it to be, especially finding songs for thursday - i guess thursday is the least poetic and inspiring day...? surprisingly, this mix seems to flow quite well between fast and slow - i'm proud! the title is from a cowboy junkies song that is not included - kind of cheating but who cares. anyway, it was fun to make so enjoy...feedback and mentions of neglected songs that would have fit perfectly are welcome, of course. ;)

The title comes from a song ("To Live Is To Fly")written by Townes Van Zandt -- a brilliant songwriter who also wrote "Cowboy Junkie's Lament." I haven't heard the CJ versions of either song, but if you like the lyrics you should check out more of TVZ's work. Nice mix.

I've been wanting to do a mix like this for quite a while now - nice job!! I've been trying to think of other songs I'd like to include - "Wednesday Week" by the Undertones, "Friday on My Mind" by the Easybeats, "Tuesday Morning" by the Pogues, "Sunless Saturday" by Fishbone, "Monday" by Wilco... hmmm, perhaps seeing your tape was just the kick in the ass I needed to start on my own similar mix?!? I like this, I like it a lot.

yes, i love townes van zandt - i actually have a photograph of myself next to the sign for "townes van zandt road" near austin, texas. the cowboy junkies version of that song is awesome!

thanks for all the feedback, folks. it's almost scary how many songs use days of the wekk in their title.

Yeah, this is a cool mix. I'm not going to tell you what you should have included or anything, especially as you made some lovely choices. And yeah, Townes Van Zandt did indeed rule. :-)

Just fabulous. Neat mix. I've been wanting to hear charlie mingus since I read beneath the underdog. I've got to get on that. Thanks for reminding me!
