Comment:

This is a two-cassette set including what I deem to be my favorite songs of all-time, in descending order--"Swamp Thing" being my #1, "Courage" being #30. Some of these are here for sentimental reasons, but all are beautiful and excellent songs known to send shivers down my spine upon their opening chords. When I was compiling this I was surprised how utterly homogenous my favorite songs are...only one band fronted by a female made my list (The Sundays), and a lot of my picks are very epic, sweeping, dramatic songs (about a third are over five minutes long). I've always considered myself to have fairly well-rounded tastes. By the way, I limited this to one song per artist so Radiohead wouldn't take up about five spots. I was also upset that I couldn't fit a Pixies song in, there's simply too many great ones to choose from. And no Beatles songs for the same reason....how can anyone pick just one? Anyhow, let me know what you think! ~dm

Nice. Some of these I absolutely adore (like Gene, TCS, Beach Boys, RHP), but if it were my mix, I'd probably leave out Live - just don't care for 'em.

yeah, I'm not too keen on Live anymore, really, but "Lightning Crashes" holds a special place sentimentally. Live are from my hometown and were one of the first "alternative" bands I really warmed up to. I wouldn't touch their most recent two albums with a ten-foot pole.

"Swamp Thing" is one of my favourites as well. And I love "Courage" but I prefer the female vocal version used in 'The Sweet Hereafter.' I've gotta get that...

Oddly enough, The Sweet Hereafter is one of my favorite movies and I love Sarah Polley's version too. I think it's one of those songs that would sound alright no matter who does it.

Props for "Lovesong", "The World...", "Paranoid Android" and especially "Everlong". Plus it's nice to see a Nick Drake song that hasn't been in a car commercial.

'flying lesson is a great great great great song! same goes for 'obscurity knocks' (although its actually phenomenal, not just great). and about live's latest disc, give it another try, mainly the track 'the ride' -- it could grow on you. just my thought.
