Comment:
In memory of George Harrison. This mix focuses on his Beatles years.Feedback:
you know, when i was a kid i usually downplayed the brilliance of george harrison and his place in the beatles, but i think his lack of air time on beatle records had less to do with his abilities and more to do with the egotistical beast known as lennon mccartney. just thinking of all the bands that have cover george (galaxie 500 for one) it's obvious how much of a giant he was, and he will be missed.
George is on Cloud 9 now...just giving the album of the same name a listen right now.
I'll miss George, too, Brandt... but don't get me started on a Lennon/McCartney vs. George debate today of all days...
That "All Things Must Pass" demo is certainly appropriate now. A mix worthy of its subject.
rob--it's not my intent to start that debate...it's pointless in my opinion. i'm not trying to say lennon/mccartney wasn't great--they were. they just obscured george in the process.
Yeah, George did get the shit end of the stick, there's no denying it...
George surely did have some of the Beatles' best tunes, as this demonstrates. Like Usurp says, "All Things Must Pass" is indeed appropriate.
