Comment:

This CD is flawed. I realized after I made it that I neglected "Sonic Reducer," which was played in New Orleans! argh! Oh well, I can always work it in on an 80-minute CD, perhaps between Leaving Here and Fuckin' Up. Anywho, the theme of this one is supposed to be all the covers they played in 2000. I had to throw in a few Eddie solo gigs to fill in the spaces, but after a lot of fiddling, I am pretty happy with the flow of the tracks. A later revision may replace Boise's "Don't Be Shy" with San Diego's, though. All of these but the first track came from their official bootlegs. I tried to pick the best versions of each song that were available to me. In a few instances, I went with versions from shows I attended (like Sacramento, Fresno, San Francisco and Las Vegas)...but I had a hell of a time trying to pick the best Baba O'Riley! I had to listen to about a dozen different versions and I even took notes on powerful intros and great crowd response and sloppy endings. Can't Help Falling in Love got in there twice because both versions were cute, a wee bit different from the other, and it's a short song so I had room for both. Yes, I need to get out more.

wow. this is really an incredible mix! starting with the bob dylan song from a nader rally was a great choice...vote green party 2004!! the mother love bone cover is nice, and it's hard to go wrong with back-to-back neil young! baba o'riley is probably my favorite song to see covered...ever since the grateful dead blew my head off with it back in '91.

Did you go to the Bridge School Benefit this year?? Pearl Jam did Indifference with Ben Harper, it was beautiful.

Yup, I went to both nights of Bridge (Indifference was grrreat!) and the Groundwork benefit in Seattle, where they performed Long Road with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, which was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen or heard in my life.

Cool idea. Nice choices on the different cities of the performances. It's a tough call on "Don't Be Shy", both versions are great, so you really can't go wrong, but Boise is a little fuller, because Jeff played on that one. And don't worry, if you keep making mixies like this, you don't have to worry about getting out more, hehe.

Yeah, I initially chose the Boise "Don't Be Shy" because I liked Jeff's accompaniment. But then a couple of my friends said that San Diego's was better. But then, they were at that show, so they may have been a bit biased. ;)
