Comment:

This is the first of a two disk set that I'm giving to my sister for Christmas. The theme, silly though it may be, is this: my sister's favorite number is 9 and all of these songs peaked at # 9 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart at some point between 1962 and 1991. It should be noted that "Bohemian Rhapsody" has charted twice: in 1976, when it peaked at #9 and in 1991 when it peaked at #2. I'm going with it's original ranking here. Also, it is true: Lennon's "#9 Dream" did peak at #9! What you won't find here is songs with "9" in the title: "Love Potion #9," "99 Red/Luftballoons," "Revolution #9," etc. That's a theme CD for another day. Vol 2 of this CD, featuring a similarly eclectic mix of #9 hits, should be appearing here soon. And, yes, I realize that some of these songs are quite cheesy, but, believe me, that's part of the fun.

hey, this has gotta take some research. she's lucky to have a brother who'll put this much time into something for her. and the concept is great, too.

wow...it's really cool that none of these actually topped the charts, even though they're really good! :)
