Comment:

i first made this tape a few years ago, then revamped it a bit when 'All Hands On The Bad One' came out. This is a choronological mix of SK. it includes something from every one of their releases (minus the song "write me back fucker" which is on the vilavilakula comp). this was the mix tape that i give out to friends who have never heard S-K before. The reaction has been that people have either LOVED them, or, totally loathed them. Sleater-Kinney are an aquired taste i suppose. But then again, my opinion is pretty damn biased cos they are my FAVOURITE band. (dont get me started on sk road trips ok?)... Oh, this mix is also forgetting some really amazing live covers that they have done (White Rabbit, Dude Looks Like a Lady, Fourtante Son). meh. im gonna stop rambling now... <3

This looks really cool. I've kind of thought about adding them to my single-artist series, myself, but haven't gotten around to it yet... of course, I'm not really in possession of rare b-sides, etc., just the albums.

rob, about 10 minutes ago i finished going through EVERY single one of yr mixes. i noticed that there was no sk, so yes, it should be added. id like to see what tracks you would pick. -- as for the bsides and whatnot, its just cos im a slightly (haha) obsessed fan :P

Well, it seems that you have CD-burning capability... if you'd like to compile all of the non-album tracks that you've got onto a CD or two, I'll trade you whatever you'd like for them. Then, once I absorb all of those, I'll do my *definitive* (*clears throat*) SK mix. ;-)

Something you may want to consider on future SK mix chronological catch-alls is to start with Heavens to Betsy stuff.

spit - thanks for the note. this mix was only actual sk recordings (on a 90 min cassette).
i decided to keep it to only sk (and not include H2B, excuse 17, cadallaca or any other sk-related project) so i could keep it at one cassette. :)

rob - not a problem. i can burn you all of the S-K bsides/live stuff that i have as well as the Heavens To Betsy demos/7" stuff. Do you have the H2B full legth and/or the Excuse 17 two albums and/or any of the Cadallaca stuff? Email me and let me know what you have. i would love a copy of yr X mix. :)

I have: the self-titled first CD, Call the Doctor, Dig Me Out, The Hot Rock and All Hands on the Bad One, plus "More Than a Feeling" (on a CDR from the wonderful Talia of this site). So hey, go for it... and I know you'd like my X mix... anything else? For my mix purposes, however, I'll only use SK tracks, as well.
