Comment:

Back in the day when brit-pop was young, fresh, and at the same time, gloriously derivative. Above all it had ATTITUDE!!
Back in the mid 1990s when I could listen to one album for months.
Back when every song was a way of life
Back when BRIT POP WAS GOOD!!!

Nice! I know it's only been five years, but I really miss Lush, Sleeper and the recently split-up Elastica.

I adore that lush song. i don't think i heard it when it came out, but it was on a mix tape i found in a friend's car when borrowing and i listened to it over and over again. your other choices are nice, too. it makes memories of middle school a lot more enjoyable.

nice way to end it off with the Verve track...and don't give up, britpop is still alive and well!

You think Cast and Kula Shaker had attitude? Hmmmm...

lol...well, they have a lot more attitude than more contemporary britpop like starsailor and coldplay

Not to be too pendantic, but Brit-Pop is a recognised music genre, encompassing all the artists on here and more, but not necessarilly every British pop-artist per se. And these days, there are very, very few bands who still peddle out Brit-Pop style music.

I see where you're coming from, but when you talk about genres you tread on shakey ground. I mean,I think OCS can be described as more "trad-rock" than brit-pop, and perhaps the verve is "neo-psychadelic balladry". maybe BRIT ROCK would be more appropriate, what do you think?

I think Brit Rock is
definitely more
appropriate, but you
have a good selection of
bands. Most of them
I know or have heard of.
I haven't heard anything by
Sleeper, besides
that Blondie cover
on the Trainspotting
Soundtrack, but
it's really good. I
wouldn't put Coldplay
in the Brit-Rock genre
either, but they're
damn better than any
other new bands
out right now!!

I like to describe OCS as "painstakingly-life-sappiningly-headachingly dull".

yeah morgan! way to be in dialogue with commenters. though i'm really sad pulp's "do you remember the first time" didn't make its way on the list. long live brit-pop!
