Comment:

kim asked me if i wanted to co-host with him on "bigstar", the alt-country show he sometimes hosts on the local public radio station, rtr-fm. of course i said yes, so here is our playlist from last night's 2 hour broadcast (master tapes will be transferred to 2 60 min. tapes). we actually had quite a few requests (hence the inclusion of dolly parton, who wouldn't normally be played at the station!), even though we hadn't even given out the station phone number on the air.

Very, nice job--Byrds, Red House Painters, Long Ryders, Johnny Cash, Freakwater etc. Too bad I don't have any radio stations nearby that play this kind of music. BTW--what's the web address of that record store that sells the Summer Suns (I've lost it)?

Marty - it's www.78records.com.au. And you can hear this show again (or any others on RTR) because it streams live on the web, at www.rtrfm.com.au. If you were listening live (on the east coast of USA) it would have been on at 8:00am Thursday morning (or 9-11pm thurs. nite, Perth time).

Bear, the show is *meant* to be "alt-country", "americana" or anything sort of similar to that - no hard and fast rules really apply to the show.

Excellent show guys! Sorry about that Dolly Parton request. I have a habit of randomly calling Australian public radio stations and making strange requests. It won't happen again.
