Comment:
Tape for Menghsindy. No agenda, really, so I just went with how I was feeling, which is a good way to listen to music/make tapes. I included some local Perth bands - like the Panics, who I've mentioned before, only now, they have their first self-titled ep out, on LittleBIGMan Records of Manchester and Perth. If you like Uk-Indie sounding (think the Smiths, only prettier, and not so much angst) music, you'll love the Panics. They will be big. Then there's Bashful, featuring Kim Williams, ex Summer Suns, who finally self-released his debut ("amour fou") 2 weeks ago. Lastly (of the local element) there's Karl Smith, of the lovely Sodastream - I finally got a hold of his hard to come by 7", "the sky is beginning to bruise", released on Chapter Music, out of Melbourne. Thanks to Rob Conroy for Teenage Fanclub track. Title courtesy of Mark Kozelek. [addendum - actually, the title is courtesy of AC/DC, who Mark Kozelek is covering]Feedback:
Lovely, Sue... great stuff all around, along with my favorite Zombies song. And you're welcome. :-)
rob conroy likes "care of cell 44" better than any other zombies song?? that's incredibly amusing, since it's about my least favorite--ever. nice beach boys pick, tho...;)
Very cool Sue. Some great picks that I actually recognize. I'll be starting your next mix soon. BTW, you need to buy some Teenage Fanclub records, so that you don't have to thank that Conroy character every time tou include them on a mix! ;)
another great mix, sue. yoo doo good.
another great one.
very nice augie march, billy, beach boys and luckies picks. cool mix overall.
this looks fabulous Sue.
Excellent mix, Sue. I'll be getting around to your mix in the next week or so--I'm waiting on an Trash Can Sinatras ep to arrive in the mail from the UK; it has a song that I may want to put on the mix. I owe you, Brandt Fundak, and Petra Jane all mixes. Hell, I'll probably just make one mix and send it to all three of you. I'm lazy that way.
Well fritz, that makes sense, as I never seem to regard your musical selections with little more than indifference. heh
I really like this.
it's something to be excited about, that's for sure. i don't know if i've heard an of these songs before, but i know that the Lucksmiths guy has been cited as one of the most "crushable" boys by many of the local music scenesters. i've always wanted to hear more byrds and beach boys, whom i know embarrassing little about, for how much they seem to influence the stuff i like. yay!
Yeah, Cindy, Tali White is *hot*!! I got to meet him last year at a luckies show - too bad my husband was with me! ;)
Any release with the Zombies, Byrds, and TFC speaks really well of a person.
Wow.. some of my absolute favorite songs (Waterfall, Star Sign, A Good Man is Easy to Kill) and lots of things I've never heard! I would love to hear some of this stuff sometime :)
my favourite augie march tune. thanks for reminding me!
