Comment:

Historically, the first really successful mix i did in terms of corralling a lot of loved songs together -- from weird-metal to geek-pop to delicate art-song to twee folk to redemptive rock to country to folk-rock to power-pop to quasi-minimalism to brawny female emotionalism (among others) -- in an order that my friends could enjoy without being jarred. Approximately a Best of 1997, but better for being imprecise.

Very cool. You obviously caught on to some of these bands faster than I did.

Great mix (really), but your theme creations are cracking me up! I love it when the boundaries you work within end up making you more creative. Your mixes make me smile.

Just found this mix while checking to see if anyone else here had ever used Life in a Blender in a mix. Turns out you're the only one! Kudos. Great choices from the Boo Radleys and GbV as well (I Am a Tree is one of the few songs of theirs I really love). And now off to the file sharing to hear some of these bands I've never heard...
