Comment:

Mix for fellow Aotm'r Jonathan. Said the only "aussie rock" he could think of was the Celibate Rifles, so I wanted to prove to him that there was more to it then the Rifles. The "dumbwaiters" song comes from the excellent compilation "can't stop it" - an aussie post punk mix, which has some really great stuff on it. The last three tracks are a bit somber (but fit together really well), but there is something really life affirming about listening to Mark Kozelek/Red House Painters - since I don't think I'm as f'd up as he is! Title courtesy of the Liquor Giants, who I recently got into. [addendum: i decided to change the order at the end of side 1 - and instead of nick cave covering cohen's "avanlanche" i put on the original - it just sounded better on this mix.]

it starts with "hell" and ends with "lust"? usually it's the other way round...

This is really cool, Sue. And btw, I decided to keep Happy Secret, as well, instead of trading it, partially due to the presence of "Beer Nut".

Rob, I'm so glad you decided to keep it - maybe over time you'll change your mind on it...

You never cease to impress me Sue! That Nancy Sinatra/Lee Hazelwood cover intrigues me. Where would I find it?

This is great. I'm beginning to think Australia is even better than New Zealand in producing great music--Glide are as important to me as the 'Mats (which is something I never thought another band could do).

Woops. I got confused. I realize now that Lee Hazelwood wrote "Some Velvet Morning" I think I was confusing it with the Velvet Underground's "Sunday Morning" D'oh.
