Comment:

Not a mix in the true sense, since it started as merely a way to transfer some of my scattered mp3s onto an audio disc. However, I try to create a loose theme for the tracks, and here it is. This mix is predominantly English, with the name taken from Down To Sea (which is a remix of Sea Song, one of the best tracks off Lost Souls.) I realize my picks lack the obscurity and flair others put into their mixes, but if it's music I enjoy, chances are 1 or 2 people out there may dig it as well.

Thanks for the lovely comments, much appreciated. I certainly didn't mean my note about obscurity for obscurity's sake as a blanket statement to all the wonderful people here; I've just had too many run-ins with the snobbery of the music enthusiasts, and it's a bit frustrating. I'm all for individually deciding what's trash and what's art (and what's both), but strictly against two trends: 1) The "everybody is a sell-out except the dingy little label I'll sacrifice my future-born children to" attitude and 2) The "this is MY band--you're too uncool to listen to them since you think The Bends is better than Kid A" posturing. But such is life; it's not gonna make me change MY cd collection! But again, thanks for the feedback(s); you do have a good point about being limited by purchase power. Thank goodness for CD mixes, eh?

I hear you -- snobbery bugs me, too. If I had unlimited resources, I'm sure I'd be an unrepentant Sheryl Crow fan. I don't have the luxury of downloading music.
