Gillian Welch, the White Stripes, Ryan Adams, and Norah Jones (though she's really neo-jazz, which isn't a real term because jazz never died) and wilco. Gotta love it, but where are the old 97s?

Norah Jones singing a Hank Williams song does it for me. I also forgot Whiskeytown, and Uncle Tupelo. I'm a bit of a mainstream kinda guy. Never could get to liking those guys.

Kind of defeats the whole purpose of a "mix" tape, doesn't it? It seems as if you only like 4 or 5 bands. There has to be more music out there that gets you excited.

Or Donna the Buffalo! The Old 97's, the V-Roys, and Southern Culture on the Skids all "KICK the sh*t!" Try 'em...

I agree on the "Where's Old 97's?" sentiment, and also say... where's the Jayhawkd and Richard Buckner? And maybe Lift to Experience, The Glands, Jim O'Rourke... I'd call some of their songs alt-country before I would really slap that label to Clem Snide. Nonetheless, nice mix, I like your inclusion of "Fisherman's Wife."

this is good stuff. i agree with the old 97's comments because they are one of my favourites of all time. . . and i think i might be the only person on earth who doesn't like norah jones. but i like this playlist. :)
