Comment:

The idea for this came from my realization last year that Stanley Kubrick was just as much a genius of sound and sound editing as he was with the visual elements of his films. Basically these are songs that I personally find 'cinematic' in the sense that I can clearly imagine images or visual sequences to accompany them. There will probably be a more ambient 2nd volume, but this one's part of a trade with Mr. Conroy if he approves. (: I couldn't resist the track from Velvet Goldmine but other than that I didn't plunder any actual soundtracks as far as I know. I'm sure Kubrick would've cut most of what's here (as he did 70% of everything he shot) but some of it, like the astonishingly badly mixed but still haunting Nomads track, or hearing 'Desperado' sung by a 9-year-old girl, seems strangely accurate.

Have you heard that David Bowie is going to give some aid to the Langley Schools Music Project? Pretty cool. Great mix.

Nice stuff - ignore my first mail about a trade for 'A Strange Roma', I'll take this one instead if that's okay.

thanks. I heard that about Bowie, it'll definitely be interesting to see what comes of it. I know that he *loved* their arrangement of Space Oddity, as well he should (:
