A tape of independent bands for my friend Christie. An excuse to make a mix featuring Hal & Roger (the lead singer was the lovely British boy for whom I made the Hit It/Quit It and Finest American tapes). Ah, August 2000.Feedback:
What makes this tape is the section from the Weakerthans to Thrush Hermit (both CanCon!) to the Get Up Kids. Sweet Jesus, that's good.

Yeah - that melody infiltrates your brain - and I love the lyrics, especially "we'll defuse bombs, walk marathons and take on whatever together". (My friends and I put together a 2-CD mix of some of our all-time favorite songs last year, and this was mine.)

The Quasi/Apples/Smith trio is where this album is at its best.
