Comment:

made an all-canadian mix for teapin because i said i would. by no means meant to be "the history of [anything]". and leaning heavily on local (toronto) acts. not to mention the hits. so yes yes that is quite possibly the most obvious hot hot heat song, maybe they're the most obvious band (let the backlash begin!) - and yes yes there's a bran van 3000 track on here, but it makes me laugh. i ripped the title off from a recent book of douglas coupland essays; it refers to the way americans view canadian culture. mais oui. totalement!

Makes me feel more patriotic than hockey. I verily burst with pride when I consider that members of two of these bands (Pluto, Sloan) hit on an ex of mine. She was sixteen. Sleazy, but this tape is damn good. Did this come about before or after our conversation on CanCon? And where did you get the Starvin' Hungry track? Is it from the Larock-less early EP?

and now andy forbes! hi!

i'm pretty sure that the mix was made before our cancon talks (unless we had this discussion before april 11th). note the absence of kazzer. ha!

and the starvin hungry track is indeed from the milchem twins-generated ep. if you're jonesing for some eric, though, there's some tricky woo in there. maybe i should ask teapin to send a copy to lolita (the ex!). for sentimental reasons, obviously.

Yuh huh. Be sure to catch Starvin' Hungry at BluesFest in Ottawa this summer. Incidentally, I have finally heard Kazzer, and let me just apologize to our American cousins right now, lest this scourge of lite hip-hop (from rural Ontario!) someday hits the US airwaves. SH website says new full-length soon. Yep.

kazzer is a full-on badass and i don't want to hear anything to the contrary. have you seen those wicked ninja moves? isn't there some kind of bitchin' camaro involved? with lots of running, from what i remember. how does the chorus part go again?
[and then mc caps lock busts out a really quite extraordinary robot dance]

while imitating an electric guitar using only his god-given vocal chords, no doubt
