Comment:

On a trip to Graceland in April 1999, we went in all cynical and sarcastic and came out awed and enthusiastic. This tape had the same effect. (Made October 12, 1998 - I wish I'd brought it with us.)

very cool approach to a crucial element of american music (and pop culture). i haven't had my elvis epiphany yet, but i'm sure i'll get to it at some point...

Yeah, I grew up with my Dad listening to a lot of cheesy Elvis, which put me through a teenage period of cynicism regarding his music. I still can't say that I would listen to his entire catalog, but what I do like, I love. If you ever have your epiphany, it might involve the "Hi-Heel Sneakers" track and the "Come on Everybody" sequence from Viva Las Vegas.

seperating "cheezy" elv from quality elv ain't that clear cut really! i mean, is it??but on the point, this is mainly SERIOUS elv, the HEAVY elv...i think you've really captured something of the essence of E. here...fantastic work.
