Comment:
March 6, 1998: The second instalment in the all-girl mixed tape series. The first was made for my friend Sara; it was eaten by her car's deck, and never actually replaced. (Hence the "resurrection" title - this tape features many of the songs from her mix.)
Feedback:
nice mix! but no riot grrrl? still the runaways 'cherry bomb' is always incredible.
Thanks! Yeah, most of these girlie mixes are sorely lacking in grrrl. I don't actually have a lot of stuff from that movement - I really should seek some out.
is the vanessa paradis song a cover of the ronettes?
Sadly, no, this particular "Be My Baby" is an original (actually co-written with Lenny Kravitz - I think they were seeing each other at the time). But it's just as catchy (it's made to sound like Sixties girl-group pop).
fun! how can you not love the go-go's? and the waitresses! and blondie! and the runaways! and that kenickie song! (hand clap hand clap)
