Comment:

Let's see. I really like this mix; the title is from Rilke's "Letters to a Young Poet". (The entire line reads, "The future stands firm, dear Mr. Kappus, but we move in infinite space.") It's kind of a downer, I guess, one of those mixes my boyfriend really didn't dig. (He'll listen to Floyd, but this 'depressed' him!!) An explanation of some track choices: the Alien Ant Farm track. Clearly, I'm not a fan, but this song really fit perfectly and nicely followed Everlong, not to mention that I really like the lyrics. And it's a good song, artist notwithstanding. As for using the Rufus version of Hallelujah, to me it's an entirely different song than the Jeff Buckley version (which I also love), and here Rufus worked a lot better than the other version could have. What else... just fourteen good songs. I ended it with a bang (ie, Distillers), a band I really enjoy in spite of myself, and the best song on their first LP. Fit the mood lyrically but managed to end on an upbeat: always a good thing. 03.20.02

Lots of heartbreak, indeed: that beautiful "Sweet Jane", the Mazzy Star, "Hallelujah". (I have a soft spot for "Movies", too.)

I love the title, too, and it perfectly captures the feel of the tracks. What do you think of the Bono version of "Hallelujah"?
