Everybody remembers their first time right? The first time you heard a young emcee from Queens (who'd ripped a couple of nice posse cuts with Main Source and MC Serch) drop his first solo track on the Zebrahead soundtrack. The first time you heard a Primo track. The first time you heard a whole crew of emcees from Staten Isle fighting for the mic over a rough as fuck beat. The first time you heard gangsta rap. The first time you heard an emcee called Big L, who did a guest spot and completely outshone his peers.

This CD isn't about obscure first appearances on wax (although I've heard some great ones), it's just about the first time I heard some of the best hip hop I know. Volume 2 in the pipeline...
