Comment:
As I've just returned from my 5 week holiday (mostly spent visiting family/buying music, in Boston), I had to make a mix featuring recent purchases/gifts. This version is mostly vinyl (all but last 2 tracks), the next version will be made up of cds purchased on trip. All of side 1, and up to track 4 on side 2 were purchased in Boston; tracks 5-9 feature gifts Kim, my boyfriend, got for me on his recent trip to Melbourne; tracks 10-12 are records I found in the cabinet at my mother's house; and the last 2 are from recent cd purchases - the Hollies, found used in Newbury Comics in Boston, and Colin Blundstone, from HMV in Hong Kong. Title courtesy of Danny McDonald, from his recent solo 7", released on France's "Pop the Balloon Records". Danny is of Melbourne power poppers P76, although, I've just heard that P76 will now be known as "Danny McDonald".Feedback:
hey i just found a copy of Introducing the Beau Brummels for a buck in a junk shop, that song is cool! luv that colin blunstone song too.
Swervdriver and The Vines and then out with a pop. I like that.
Sounds like you had a great trip that inspired a great mix. I've been groovin' on Just A Little lately too.
Great stuff, Sue! I think I'd like a copy of it, as a matter of fact. :-) I'm glad to hear that you made it back to Australia safely. If you feel the urge, please drop me a line with any pertinent updates...
Very cool! Glad we'll be seeing your mixes again. Looking forward to the seeing the CD mix. It appears you didn't buy any records in Tijuana, or were you out of money by that point? ;)
P.S. Don't forget to tell Rob how blindingly handsome I was.
sweet as usual, Shoes, Tommy Keene, Marshall Crenshaw ooh i could go on forever (but who is Lucky Luke? , and i don't mean that cowboycartoon)
hahaha, ion! yup, i was outta money in tijuana, but, then again, can you really find any good record buys in tijuana? we actually did go into a cd store there, but it was all crap, laddy, crap! and, yeah, ion is blindingly handsome, in a "1980s john hughes-movie-character-kind of way" ;)
Rob: no problem of getting you a copy - only thing is that while listening to it today, i noticed a skip in the first long ryders pick (used record, what do you expect!), and with some of the others, while they don't skip, there's noticible "crackle and pop".
Peter: sorry, i have no idea who "lucky luke" is - but the track is off a new WCPAEB tribute album, which also features The Clientele, released on earworm records.

lovely. a real nice mix
"boyfriend"...*sigh*...
Wow, Wow, WOW! Love the 3 O'Clock cover, Marshall, Monkees, Colin and Long Ryders "Tower" - Gene Clark is on that track, as you no doubt know, but I always thought that his vocal was too buried. Anyway, this is super duper.
Looks swell. Nothing wrong with a little "scratch, pop and hiss" now and then!
Thanks for the unsolicited compliment Sue. I hope you weren't too distracted by the flashlight on my forehead.
welcome back & nice mix too many yums to mention.
This is great. All over the map and I love The Who pick.
This looks great, can I get a copy?
This is really lovely.
