a mix given to a girlfriend leaving for four months. it's a fun little spiral, mirroring our own relationship fairly well. the first few songs cull images from the distant past; fun times as friends, grand times when we were still in denial. slowly, however, the layers of humor are stripped away, with harper, drake, et. al. representing the core intensely romantic and sometimes tragic feelings we share. steve martin, from his collection of short essays "pure drivel," leaves on a light note, and makes a slight jab at the intellectual elitism we've always carried between us. a barely disguised and shameless hook for conversation, yes, but this is "the cd of 'see you soon'" after all. we'll talk about it when we see each other again.
