Comment:

CD, not TAPE. I just saw this survey thing a few days ago and got around to filling it out tonight. What a fantastic idea for a mix, I must say. I think this track list turned out pretty well and I'll probably give it a go pretty soon. I really wanted to stick to one song per artist, but I couldn't resist the two Elvis picks (hey, he is the king, after all). Nearly all these have a rich story behind them...but I'll spare you. I will say this much: I chose 13 because it's the song Lane Meyer wakes up to in "Better Off Dead"; I could have picked a lot of songs I liked from my parents' collection (as I practically grew up on my dad's vinyl collection), but "Nights" was the one I kept coming back to when trying to asnwer this question; "Suedehead" actually reminds me of my first *girlfriend*, not necessarily crush; "Rudie" is from "Grosse Pointe Blank," tied with "Ghostbusters" for my favorite movie, but I couldn't really think of anything from GB worthy of inclusion here (and "Rudie" is definitely my fave from "Grosse Pointe Blank"). Oh, also, I couldn't remember where the club question came in the order, so I just stuck it in the middle. I was too lazy to look it up. On a side note, I had to cut Weezer's "Only In Dreams" from the "song that makes you cry" simply because it was too long. Ah well.

Yay, the return of the "The Song That..." mix! Although this isn't the more popular version, including "Helps You Vent Your Frustration" and "Makes You Think About Death." Great picks from Adam Ant and Fear of Pop.

I didn't go with the "more popular" version...being a purist, I went with the first version I saw. Though I did think about adding the two questions you mentioned if time allowed.

Grosse Pointe Blank has an excellent soundtrack. Although I think my favorite song on it is "El Matador." It's a great movie, too.

I'd have figured you for a "Rushmore" or "The Nightmare Before Christmas" kinda' guy.

I am, Valis (more "Rushmore" than "Nightmare"). In terms of Elfman/Burton, I'm much more of a "Pee-wee's Big Adventure" guy than "Nightmare." In fact, I've drawn parallels between "Pee-wee" and "Rushmore" on occasion.

"Rushmore"s charm for me is the personal identification with Max Fischer....,interests all over the place!

What a great idea! I'm going to have to do one of these myself now...

Was it a deliberate act not to use TMBG for moon, stars *and* sun? :-)
