First things first: Did anyone just see The Vines on Letterman? HOLYFUCKINGSHIT! That was the most ROCK thing I've ever seen in my 18 years on this planet. Viva el Rock! Aaah! Aaah! That was SO...wow. i'm speechless. He almost took the drummer's head off. w-wow. Long live the rebirth of rock!

Erm...anyway, this is a thrown together tape of what I've been taking in this week.

I'm feeling saucy. I think I'll do a track-by-track run down.

1)The Flaming Lips-Knives Out
Wow. That noise that the guitar makes that sounds like a chainsaw is amazing. And strangely beautiful, as are the other weird noises done by Coine and co.

2)The People-Robots.
This is a band from Kansas City (I think) that I am a huge fan of. My favorite indie band, no doubt. I saw them at Vino's in Little Rock, and they blew me (and my friends) away. Literally about half of the music listened to in me and my friend's cars has been by these guys. The address is http://www.thepeoplerock.com

3)Weezer-Mo Beats
I didn't like this too much at first, but I gradually came around. Any song that has a Moog AND Rivers rapping and saying the f-word gets my vote. 'Fo Sheezy!

4)The White Stripes-Jimmy The Exploder
The hook in this song is sick. I mean, it is ridiculously good. Just maaaaay be my favorite White Stripes song.

5)Keller Williams-One Hit Wonder
This guy is too cool. If anyone wants to here some crazy acoustic guitar playing, listen to the first 20 seconds of Freeker By The Speaker. Crazy.

6)Steve Burns-Mighty Little Man
You know every once in a while when you stumble upon a song and you think-"Man, this is exactly what I've been looking for." Yeah. Isn't it weird that when I find it, its by the Blues Clues guy?

7)Stage Fright-Cocaine Girl
The guy who played bass in my former band played this for me at 8 AM, while we were both half hungover at our friend's camp during spring break. He thought it was a Kurt Cobain demo from when he was about 15. Anyway, I was so taken by the song, that I studied up on it, and found out it's by this Stage Fright band. I still love it, though.

8)The Chromatics-Pink Ticket
After listening to the People demo over and over and over, I decided to break out other stuff that I had bought at shows this summer, so I found this 7" and ended up listening to it a whole effing lot. They opened for The Gossip (if you haven't heard of them yet, which I'm sure you extremely-indie-rock-literate people have.), who is an amazing grrl band from Searcy, Arkansas (i.e., the City Of God.). Go pick up their Arkansas Heat EP. Yeah, I'm really fond of them, too.

9)The Velvet Underground-Murder Mystery
It's not the same as throwing it on the ol' turntable, turning the volume all the way up, and sitting inbetween my huge speakers, but genius, nonetheless.

10)The Vines-1969
OH MY GOD! Did y'all see them on Letterman?!?! SHEEEIT!
