Comment:

A bunch of hapa-haole tunes from the 20's & 30's -- much livelier than the new age schmaltz that mostly gets passed off these days as "Hawaiian" music. Something of a follow-up to an earlier "Hula Blues" mix.

Sol Hoopii and Andy Iona! Awesome. I would really love to hear this. The first installment is wonderful, and this music is all but forgotten.

I recently heard someone call Roy Smeck "the Jimi Hendrix of the 30's" -- and, at least as it applies to guitar technique, that sounds about right -

Hmm, shouldn't Jimi be called "the Roy Smeck of the 60s?" ;-)

This looks great. I know nothing of hawaiian music, but this seems like a great place to start. If you want to trade, please let me know.

Hey Jeff, do you know the name of the artist who is currently doing graphic art much like the cover you have here? I saw a bunch of his work this summer, but I can't recall his name.

Joey - I don't know this music, but I do have some of the "new agey" stuff. Give me your honest opinion - how do you rate the listening experience of this mix compared to your best? Maybe suggest some of what you consider to be your best mixes. THis is definitely enticing. I lived there when I was 5 - I think it is still in my blood.
