For one of those friends that you've had forever and secretly know you'll never let yourself lose sight of, no matter how tough the going gets. The title is from the Liz Phair song: no matter who is in her life, I'm always going to be the wildly protective friend asking, "Explain it to me," or, as Ani puts it, "waiting in the wings" to rescue her if he tries anything funny. And no matter what, as the other tracks cumulatively prove, I'm here forever for her, spanning miles and bad fights and bad choices, and all the shitty mistakes that people make when they're too selfish to see what they lost till it's gone. ...This is for you, Alli.
