Comment:

Xmas 1992: My tastes were being defined by industrial music and a sorta-post-shoegazer thing. NIN was taking over the position in my mind of `most artsy and simultaneously rockin' music' (a position formerly held by Jane's Addiction). I started using spoken word interludes in my tapes to break up songs and make it more like listening to a perfect radio station. A few collaboration/supergroups started popping up, like Pigface & Electronic. I love the unpopular Peter Murphy song called "Hit Song'. It sounds like a song that would be played at a 1988 Prom. (It's a slow dance. I hope to put that in a movie one day.) Now putting Henry Rollins on a tape is a sore spot to me here as I write this in 2002. I didn't really know much about him at the time and thought that maybe I was dealing with a thoughtful artist, but I was wrong. (I was simply dealing with a frat boy with tattoos and "a past") Since all these original mixtapes were made on TAPES.they would cut off at a certain point, that is why you will find long and/or annoying songs at the end of each side. As you may notice a few of the bands on this tape were on the original and 2nd year of Laloolapalooza. Hmmm? Why wasn't there any BODY COUNT on this tape?! Little Known Fact: I have seen Ice-T & Body Count live 3 times..
