Comment:

Xmas 1995: I have always liked this years mixtape, because it is all over the place. The super guitar heavy White Zombie & KMFDM, but then going to cute acoustic gems like Ben Lee, wacky novelty covers like Mojo doing a Morrissey song, and a little indie-cred with Thurston Moore. I took a few singles off of soundtracks this year: TKK was in Showgirls and Curve was in that evil Gregg Araki's movie The Doom Generation. Bad movie - Good Songs. In retrospect I am surprised that I put such an obvious radio hit like Oasis' Wonderwall on this. It still is a great song though. It nicely breaks up the sleaze of TKK and onslaught of Ministry. A favorite band of mine at the time was Ruby. She was in Pigface and then got a major label record deal - then didn't sell enough records - and wasn't heard from for like 5 or 6 years. By the time Leslie from Ruby had a new record, nobody cared anymore. sigh.
