Comment:

Ah, heavy metal fantasy. I was listening to "In the Garage" by Weezer and shamefully relating to teenage days of playing D&D and listening to lots of metal. This is the result. I wanted to make a tape I could tolerate in the car without too much embarrassment, and yet harken back to those carefree days as a young metalhead, or "burnout" as was the term in that time of old. I've always thought Metallica's best songs were covers- Stone Cold Crazy, Breadfan, Garage Days Revisited all good examples- so I included two of the best. I end the tape with the ridiculous metal anthem "The Gods Made Heavy Metal" by Manowar, just to prove I can laugh at myself. Incidentally, Manowar has the distinction of being the only band to have Orson Welles do a voiceover, on the infamous tune, "Dark Avenger." I did stick my favorite quote from Conan the Barbarian as the opener to side 2, though:
Woman: "A pittance to protect you from evil."
Subotai: "Heheh. I AM evil."
Conan: "You're all sluts!"

Wow, it's like you had a picture window
into my teens. To compensate for my inertia
and geekiness, I lost myself in
fantasy artwork, to the soundtrack
of Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden
records. Freaks weren't empowered, then;
everything was pigeonholed.
