Comment:
This is my musical tribute to Aldous Huxley's Brave New World; I found it on my bookshelf today and got to pondering it--as if I hadn't pondered it enough already. But anyway, I wouldn't say it's really a strict chronological recapitulation, although I guess it could be--and if it was, it'd have to be from Bernard's perspective, I think...that makes the most sense. So you could look at the beginning as a kind of expression of his disgust for artificiality--which I guess takes up the majority of both the book and the mix--and then later there's some crazy happy soma action, followed by some more wistful sort of music for his attempt at rebellion and his getting sent off to an island and everything. And then, of course, it ultimately ends pretty creepily because--c'mon, people--it's Brave New World.Feedback:
i really really like the concept you have here, though i haven't tested it out yet, you know matched the songs to the book etc etc. it seems that you have a wonderful variety in your music. great job
wow. so innovative. nice.
Great concept and mix. You also might want to consider the Dismemberment Plan song "Memory Machine" for the Aldous Huxley shoutout therein.
i think this is fantastic. and that cover is badass.
Wonderful Emily.
Yeah, interesting enough... I say still needing to read "Brave New Order," ha ha..
...cough, cough, "Brave New World.." That was seriously a typo, not being an idiot. Does anyone else type the wrong words at times?
I planned a mix that was supposed to be a soundtrack for the book, it was for a project in my English class. You should check it out.
Yes.., wonderful Emily. Looks (reads) as well-thought-out.
mad phat, yo. especially your opener.
ooooh. aaaaaah. pretty! :) *thumps up* sorry I haven't been emailing you this past week, I came down with a nasty stomach virus and have been MIA. grrrr. but we need to e-mail once again SOON!
I haven't read the book, but now I feel like I don't need to. Okay, yeah, I probably still should. But hey, this still rocks out.
oooh, Emily, I like this! I now feel the need to bug you for this :)
very nice!
I don't feel the Smith would fit. And the Weezer too. This needs more...electronically tinged pieces, IMO.
Ah well, to each his own.
Great mix--makes me want to read the book again.
